Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and Modulo Flow when you use the app. They’re written to be read: plain language, no traps. Using the service means you accept them.

01Who we are, and what this is

“Modulo Flow”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Modulo Flow, the operator of the Modulo Flow application and the website at moduloflow.com. “You” means the person using the service.

Modulo Flow is a single-user study planner and organiser. It turns a course outline and a timetable into a schedule, tracks assessments, generates practice material, and answers questions about your coursework. It is a study aid, not your institution, not an accredited course, and not a substitute for your own work.

02It’s in testing, and it’s free

The service is in an early testing phase and is provided free of charge. That has two consequences worth stating plainly: features may change, break, or be removed, and we may contact you about your experience. If we introduce paid plans, we will tell you before anything you rely on starts to cost money.

Because it is in testing, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, with no guarantee of uptime, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose, to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

03Your account

You need an account to use the service. You must give accurate details, keep your login secure, and be old enough to form a binding agreement in your country (if you are under 18, you should have a parent or guardian’s permission). You are responsible for activity under your account. Access is currently limited while we are in testing, and we may decline or withdraw access at our discretion.

04Academic integrity, read this one

Modulo Flow helps you plan, practise, and understand your work. It is not a way to have your work done for you, and submitting AI-generated material as your own is academic misconduct at essentially every institution.

  • Use it to learn, revise, and check your understanding. That is what it is for.
  • Do not submit output from the app, in whole or in part, as your own assessable work where your institution’s rules prohibit it.
  • You are responsible for complying with your school’s or university’s academic integrity policy. If the two ever conflict, your institution’s rules win.

05The AI, and its limits

Some answers are checked by a deterministic engine and marked “verified”. That means the computed value was produced by that engine, not guessed by a language model. Everything else, including all explanations and any answer without that mark, may contain mistakes. A “verified” mark is a statement about a computed value, not a guarantee about the surrounding explanation or the question being the one you meant.

Always check important results yourself. We are not liable for decisions you make, or marks you receive, based on the app’s output.

06Your content

You keep ownership of everything you put into the app: your outlines, notes, timetables, files, and questions (“your content”). You grant us only the limited permission needed to run the service for you: to store your content, process it (including sending relevant parts to the AI provider to answer your requests), and show it back to you.

We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to train AI models. Reading your own files to build study material or answer from them is off by default and happens only with your explicit, revocable consent, as described in the Privacy Policy.

07Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • break the law, or use the service to help anyone else break it;
  • upload content you do not have the right to upload, or that infringes someone else’s rights;
  • attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the service or other users’ data;
  • resell or redistribute the service, or use automated means to extract data from it beyond your own personal use.

08Third-party services

The service relies on third parties to function, including our AI provider (Anthropic), authentication and email providers (such as Google, Microsoft, and Resend), and our hosting and database providers. Your use of those parts is also subject to their terms, and their processing of data is described in the Privacy Policy. Where the desktop app or browser extension connects to your learning-management system (such as Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle, or Brightspace), your use of that system remains governed by your institution.

09Ending your use

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you breach these terms, if we need to for security or legal reasons, or if we discontinue the service. On termination, the parts of these terms that should survive (ownership, disclaimers, and liability) continue to apply.

10Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, marks, or opportunity, arising from your use of a free service in testing. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including under the Australian Consumer Law.

11Changes, and governing law

We may update these terms as the product changes; the “last updated” date above always reflects the current version, and continued use after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and you and we submit to the courts of that place.
